Today’s high-speed Sunday Morning Drive is brought to you by Californian Michael Lewis. Lewis has spent the entire 2010 season in Europe with the Formula BMW-Europe and Formula BMW-Pacific Series, driving for EuroInternational.
He has four podiums and six fast laps in the Pacific series and seven top-10s, including a top-five in FBMW-Europe.

I recently featured Jonathan Scarallo in a previous Video of the Day post, but the drive shown below is pretty impressive. Scarallo managed his restarts perfectly and made some nice late-braking maneuvers to go from 21st to 4th in 20 laps.
The onboard footage was captured in Round 14 of the 2010 F2000 Championship Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Here’s a great onboard shot from Tatiana Calderon’s Star Mazda car prior to impacting Nick Andries in Turn 5 at Road America. Both drivers were battling lock-up on entry into the corner before Calderon’s right front got into the side of Andries’ car. The tire contact sent Nick into a barrel roll while exiting the corner.
Fortunately, Andries was not injured in the accident.
Today’s video features some great onboard footage from Jonathan Scarallo’s R-Sport car at Road America in Round 11 of the 2010 F2000 Championship. Scarallo’s day ended prematurely after losing fourth gear in the closing laps but he rebounded on Sunday to take his first career win. Enjoy.
With the Star Mazda Championship heading to Iowa Speedway this weekend (along with the USF2000 National Championship and Indy Lights’ Series) it seems fitting to post a video featuring footage from last year’s race.
Take a ride with Peter Dempsey — last year’s winner of the Iowa stop — around Iowa Speedway. The win was Peter’s second of the season and his first with Juncos Racing. Lap traffic can have a major impact at Iowa, which is illustrated perfectly in this video. Enjoy.
The following footage features onboard video from a KZ2 shifter kart. The engine of the lead kart seized during a high speed section of the circuit, causing the rear axle to lock at the 36-second mark of the video. The driver, with the camera onboard, does a nice job avoiding the spinning kart in front of him.
I’m continuously looking for additional onboard karting footage, so feel free to send me a link anytime. This video was added to YouTube by KartRacerSwe.
A special thank you to everyone for their support. Donations will be used as a travel fund to provide more live coverage of karting and junior formula events. Every little bit helps.
