Carlos Munoz waited patiently for his turn to exit the Iowa Speedway pit lane and qualify for tonight’s Sukup 100 Indy Lights race. His teammate at Andretti Autosport, Zach Veach, held the provisional pole, but it was Munoz who was able to put down the best two-lap average on the .875-mile oval.

It was Munoz’s first pole on an oval, but his fourth of the season. His two-lap average was 159.457 mph. Jack Hawksworth, who qualified second, earned his fourth front-row start in six races with a two-lap average of 158.794 mph.

Zach Veach was bumped to third, averaging 158.742 during his two-lap flurry. Jorge Goncalvez was fourth with Sage Karam rounding out the top-five. Gabby Chaves, Juan Pablo Garcia, and Peter Dempsey concluded the eight-car field.

Drivers will take the green flag for tonight’s Sukup 100 at 7:50 p.m.
