After serving as a development driver for Team Pelfrey in 2012, it comes as no surprise to see junior formula standout Spencer Pigot sign with two-time defending Pro Mazda champs Team Pelfrey for the 2013 season.
Pigot, 19, finished runner-up in the 2012 USF2000 National Championship while driving for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. The Florida native, who won the prestigious Team USA Scholarship in 2010 and 2011, won eight of 14 races in 2012.
Pigot is undoubtedly a championship favorite heading into the 2013 season after topping both test days at last October’s Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
