Canadian karter Daniel Burkett has signed with Belardi Auto Racing for the 2013 USF2000 National Championship, the team announced Tuesday.

The 17-year-old from Winnipeg will join teammate Matt McMurry on the team’s roster.

Burkett was a nominee for IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe’s karting scholarship and a member of Team Canada’s karting team in 2011, competing at the Rotax World Finals in United Arab Emirates.

Burkett is a proven standout in karting and should find his way to the front of the USF2000 field as the season advances. Watch for good things from both Burkett and McMurry this season in USF2000.
