Yago Cesario proved to be the fastest and most consistent driver in the 2012 Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shootout at VIR. The 16-year-old Brazilian produced the fastest lap of the competition (1:18.057).

Heading into the final day of the 2012 Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shootout at Virginia International Raceway, Yago Cesario knew he needed to do one thing: Continue doing exactly what he had been doing the previous two days.

Drive fast and clean.

While the points spread was significantly reduced in the final day of competition, thanks to strong performances by runner-up Brennan Harrington, Cesario held on to win the grand prize — a fully-funded ride in the Skip Barber Summer or Winter Series. Harrington ended up just 0.25 points short in his quest for top honors but still ended up leaving VIR with a $25,000 prize.

Bryson Schutte was third. Yuri Cesario, Yago’s twin brother, finished fourth and Canadian Olivier Cote was fifth earning the final prize in the 2012 shootout. Full results can be found after the jump.
