Nick Andries

Star Mazda standout Nick Andries has inked a one-off deal to drive Bryan Herta Autosport’s No. 28 Indy Lights car on the streets of Long Beach.

The 21-year-old Florida native finished third in the 2011 Star Mazda Championship earning one pole position (Milwaukee) and finishing on the podium seven times, including three runner-up finishes.

In 2010, Andries balanced his time between the Skip Barber National Championship (one win, four podiums) and the Star Mazda Championship  (four top-10 finishes). He won the 2009 Skip Barber Summer Series Championship.

It will be nice to see Andries make his Indy Lights debut. Hopefully this opportunity will develop into a full-time ride. Andries has shown tremendous potential and deserves the opportunity to fully develop it.

Andries will qualify Saturday before making his Indy Lights race debut Sunday, April 15, at 10:45 PST in Long Beach.
