Jack Mitchell Jr. signed with Brian Graham Racing Team Grote for the Ontario-based F1600 Championship, the team announced today.

Mitchell, 15, has committed to drive the entire 14-race schedule for the prominent Canadian team — which recently announced it will become a Piper Race Car dealer in 2012. This is a good signing for BGR and a wise move for Mitchell to link up with a team focused on driver development. The Illinois native has been honing his craft in the Skip Barber ranks; finishing eighth in the 2011 Summer Series with multiple top-five finishes. This winter he has been further developing his skill set  in the Skip Barber Winter Series producing two wins and four podiums in eight starts.

Mitchell will test with the team in April before making his debut May 5-6 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
