Juncos Racing team owner Ricardo Juncos won’t have any trouble securing at least one driver for the upcoming Star Mazda and/or Indy Lights seasons.

After traveling to Chile last week, Juncos signed an agreement with the Formula 3 Association of Chile and the Chilean Federation of Motor Racing (FADECH) which will allow each year’s Chilean F3 champion a funded opportunity to race in the Mazda Road to Indy with Juncos Racing. The team plans to field cars in both Star Mazda and Indy Lights.

This is a smart move by Juncos and should really help to develop the diverse talent in the Road to Indy. For Chilean Formula 3 drivers this is an outstanding opportunity to move up the ladder and gain additional exposure. Juncos Racing hopes to have several driver announcements in the coming month.

The team release did not indicate whether 2011 Chilean F3 champ Pablo Donoso — a former Star Mazda (’05-’06)and Indy Lights driver (’08-’09) — will join Juncos Racing in 2012. Donoso, 27, won the 2011 championship with six wins and eight podiums in 12 starts.
