Peter Dempsey has secured a ride in the Indy Lights series with Andretti Autosport for this weekend’s event on the Streets of Toronto.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on track,” Dempsey said. “I’m grateful for this opportunity at Andretti Autosport, and I’ll be working hard to put out a good result in Toronto.”

Dempsey has completed four races earlier this season with 02 Racing. During that stretch he finished inside the top-ten three times and landed on the podium twice.

His ride with o2 Racing concluded when the team removed its entries at Milwaukee following concerns with Indy Lights technical inspection. Since that time, O2 Racing has been suspended by IndyCar until December 31, 2012.

It’s great to see Dempsey back in the car. He will join AA regular Stefan Wilson this weekend in Toronto.

It is heartening to see young Dempsey get a ride. He has had a tough struggle to date with sponsors and now a team imbroglio. Tremendous driving talent and not much luck so far.

It will be interesting to see if AA is competitive again with Dempsey in the car. Andretti needs to show his FIL program still has what it takes.
