Round 5

During Saturday’s race, Anderson battled with Hindman and Shelby Blackstock for the point throughout the entire race. Just before the checkered flag flew, Anderson passed Blackstock for the win, snaring the victory by a mere 0.022 seconds. Hindman, who started from pole position, rounded out the podium.

Connecticut native Scott Heckert, 17, produced a solid fourth-place result in his first national race of the year. Brandon Newey finished fifth overall. Danilo Estrela was forced to retire from the race after contact but set the fastest race-lap of the weekend, touring the circuit in 56.798 seconds.

Round 6

On Monday, Hindman capitalized on his second pole position of the weekend by capturing his first career National victory. He did so in commanding fashion, winning by 16.075 seconds on a damp track surface.

Anderson finished runner-up after starting back in seventh place and set the fastest lap of the race (1:02. 962). Newey rounded out the podium — his fourth in six starts. Thomas McGregor and Heckert finished fourth and fifth, respectively, after battling for second position.

The Skip Barber National Championship competitors will return to the track for Rounds 7 and 8 on July 1-3 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc.

What’s going on with the National series? It appears to have dropped off this year big time with entrants and quality. 10 entrants with several of them being shootout award winners and 1 veteran driver?? I wonder how this program will keep afloat?

This series is circling the drain.Poor management and low entries will see to its demise. What a shame!
