Frenchman Tristan Vautier dominated the Star Mazda field Sunday on the 2.38-mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park road course, winning by 39.586 seconds after starting from pole position.

Nick Andries finished second after making an impressive run from ninth. Juncos Racing’s Tatiana Calderon recorded a career-best finish of third to claim the final podium spot in the 16-car field.

Vautier’s win elevated the 21-year-old into first place in the 2011 Star Mazda Championship with a 12-point advantage over Connor De Phillippi — who was involved in an incident with Ireland’s Patrick McKenna Sunday.

Carlos Linares earned hard charger honors by rounding out the top-five, finishing just behind Joao Victor Horto, after starting 14th.
