Victor Garcia drove a perfect race Sunday, edging Stefan Wilson by 0.312 seconds at Barber Motorsports Park for his first career Indy Lights win after starting from the pole position and leading all 40 laps.

Wilson, who started third, earned his best career finish running just off Garcia’s gearbox for the final 12 laps. He was able to mount one serious challenge late in the race when he drove deep into Turn 17, but Garcia consistently hit all his marks and held Wilson off.

Peter Dempsey finished third for his second-straight podium finish. Jorge Goncalvez, who was driving with a broken leg, finished fourth. Mikael Grenier rounded out the top-five after starting 10th.

On the first lap of the race Sam Schmidt Motorsports teammates Esteban Guerrieri and Josef Newgarden made contact and Victor Carbone, also driving for SSM, caught the end of the pandemonium.

Daly, driving the fourth SSM car, avoided early contact but clipped James Winslow on Lap 23. The contact spun Winslow who was running third after starting 12th and sent Daly to the pits, putting him one lap down. Just a few laps earlier both Winslow and Daly completed aggressive passes on Anders Krohn, going deep on the brakes into Turn 5, for third and fourth respectively.

Newgarden was the only SSM driver able to mount a recovery, finishing sixth after two stops in pit lane.
