Last year, I posted the lap times from each level of the Road to Indy development ladder from St. Petersburg, Fla. Here’s a look back at the times from 2010.
A true comparison can never be made due to the numerous variables that come into play, but it’s still fun to compare the times. I’ve posted the pole time from the USF2000 National Championship, Star Mazda Championship, and Indy Lights series below.
2011 Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
Qualifying Lap Times – ‘Road to Indy’
- USF2000 pole: Spencer Pigot 1:13.955
- Star Mazda pole: Martin Scuncio 1:10.921
- Indy Lights pole: Esteban Guerrieri 1:07.6903
- IndyCar pole: Will Power 1:01.9625
Interestingly enough, all the times are slower (by a minimal margin) than those from 2010. The biggest gap, again, is the difference between Indy Lights and IndyCar — which will hopefully change next season.
