Dean Stoneman, 20, reigning Formula 2 champion, was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer and will be forced to sit out his 2011 World Series by Renault campaign with ISR Racing.
According to the initial report by Autosport.com, Stoneman’s physicians caught the disease early and expect a full recovery.
Stoneman, who was set to compete alongside 2010 Formula Renault 3.5 runner-up Daniel Ricciardo at ISR, won last year’s FIA Formula 2 championship.
The British driver compiled six F2 wins and 13 podiums in 18 starts last season and also ran two WSR events at Cataluyna in preparation for the upcoming season.
We wish Stoneman a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in a racecar soon.
