Sorry for the tardy posting, here’s the 2011 Star Mazda Championship schedule as released yesterday.  The current calendar features 11 races spread over ten weekends, with one venue yet to be determined.

Update: As expected, Barber Motorsports Park has been added as the April 10th event.

The temporary schedule breakdown looks like this:

  • 40% – temporary street circuits
  • 30% – ovals
  • 30% – road courses

The schedule looks good. Officials have picked some stellar race tracks and have really mixed things up this season in order to give drivers the most diversity behind the wheel. Additionally, the schedule aligns nicely with some high-profile events, including IndyCar, USAC and ALMS races.

2011 Star Mazda Schedule

March 26-27  Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
April 9-10 Barber Motorsports Park
May 27-28  O’Reilly Raceway Park
June 18-19  Milwaukee Mile
June 24-25  Iowa Speedway
July 22-23  Mosport
August 6  Trois-Rivieres
August 7  Trois-Rivieres
August 26-27  Infineon Raceway
September 3-4  Baltimore Grand Prix
September 16-17 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Its unfortunate that Star Mazda won’t be at Road Atlanta again next year.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that stop dropped this season. It will be real interesting to see where they schedule their “TBA” April stop.

My guess is it will be held at a track with giant metal insects.

    It will probably be Barber.

Three ovals, that’s awesome! Three Californian races, I didn’t expect that. No Sebring (12 Hours) or Road Atlanta (Petit Le Mans), that’s too bad.

Long Beach GP in April would be nice!

No Sebring! No Road America! No Road Atlanta! Blah.

Of course the good schedules come after I’m no longer racing the Mazda’s… Always wanted to run St. Pete and Infineon. And a double header at Trois-Rivieres!!!!

Dom, — I agree, it’s always tough when you don’t see the RAs on a schedule.

Alex, — I’m thinking you might need to make a couple one-off stops in the 2011 Star Mazda Championship, especially the doubleheader at Trois-Rivieres! :)

Man I wish we had this sort of competition when I was growing up in Texas :/ Only racing we had was illegally down the city streets :(
