It comes as no surprise that Spencer Pigot and Felix Serralles were awarded the prestigious Team USA Scholarship today at Road Atlanta. While all the nominees were incredibly talented – and would have done an excellent job if chosen – the overall favorites all along were arguably Pigot and Serralles. The duo won the 2009 Skip Barber Karting Scholarship last winter and received funding from MazdaSPEED for the 2010 Skip Barber National season.
Pigot currently leads the championship and will likely wrap it up today (he’s on pole for Race 1), while Serralles is runner-up in the rookie standings heading into the finale this weekend.
Both drivers will head to England next weekend in order to prepare for the upcoming Formula Ford Festival (Oct. 16-17) and Walter Hayes Trophy (Nov. 6-7). The duo will drive for Cliff Dempsey Racing. Stay tuned for more.
