Martin Scuncio has inked a deal to participate in the Star Mazda season finale with Juncos Racing at Road Atlanta.  The 19-year-old Argentina native – who now resides in Pittsburgh, Pa., has spent the bulk of the year driving  in the USF2000 National Championship for Fuerza Chile Motorsports.  His best result of the season is a fourth-place finish, which occurred about both St. Petersburg, Fla., and Iowa Speedway.

He will test a Star Mazda car for the first time with Juncos Racing next week at Roebling Road in Georgia.  Scuncio will have the guidance of teammates Conor Daly, Rusty Mitchell, and Tatiana Calderon at the event Sept. 29 – Oct. 1.

Scuncio has sort of flown-under-the-radar this season, but he has really impressed me.  He’s made some big improvements in 2010, so  it will be fun to see how he adapts to the downforce and horsepower of a Star Mazda car.  This will be a great experience for him and a solid opportunity to pick up some seat time at Road Atlanta, but it would be nice to see him return for another year in the USF2000 National Championship and make a run for the overall title.
