Canadian Alex Ellis won the 2010 Jim Russell Race of Champions.  The series consisted of six races in FJR-50 race cars.  As the overall winner, Ellis will be awarded a fully-funded Indy Lights ride with Sam Schmidt Motorsports at Infineon Raceway (Round 10) August 22.

J.K. Vernay, who currently leads the Indy Lights championship for Sam Schmidt Motorsports, will be at Infineon this week testing a FJR-50 race car with Ellis.  This will be Vernay’s first stop at Infineon Raceway and August 22 will mark Ellis’ first race in an Indy Lights car.

Last December, Ellis and American Gary Carlton won the 2009 Jim Russell “Future Driver Search” allowing both to compete in this year’s Race of Champions.
