Conor Daly watched the entire field go out and qualify before taking his turn at Iowa’s 0.875 mile tri-oval in the #22 Juncos Racing Star Mazda car. The top spot was traded several times throughout the session but Conor stole the show, nipping Joao Victor Horto by 0.151 seconds to earn his third pole position of the season.  In the process of earning pole, Daly set a new track record (21.933) – becoming the first driver in Star Mazda history to crack the 22-second mark. Andersen Racing’s Mikael Grenier took third.

Anders Krohn and Jorge Goncalvez rounded out the top-five.  Minnesota’s Chris Miller earned his career-best Star Mazda qualifying result with a lap of 22.287, good for sixth.  Connor De Phillippi, who is Miller’s JDC teammate, ended up seventh.

Tristan Vautier, Caio Lara and David Ostella rounded out the top-10, respectively.  Tonight’s 100-lap race is scheduled to be run at 7:15 p.m. CST.

Full Results and more photos after the jump. I’ll see if I can’t piece together a few quotes for you later.
