Conor Daly won his second consecutive Star Mazda race this morning at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Frenchman Tristan Vautier led the first 16-laps but dropped three laps down midway through the race due to a broken pushrod. From that point, the top-five remained unchanged.

Andersen Racing drivers’ Anders Krohn and Mikael Grenier completed the podium.  Krohn finished second, trailing Daly by 3.522 seconds at the stripe.  Grenier finished third, followed closely by Connor De Phillippi.  Colombian driver Juan Piedrahita put in an impressive drive to finish fifth, a career best.

JDC Motorsport’s Connor De Phillippi set the fastest lap of the race, 1:22.252.

The Star Mazda competitors return to action next weekend at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis for the Night Before the 500.
