After setting the fastest lap in Indy Lights practice for the Grand Prix of Long Beach, James Hinchcliffe has claimed the pole position for tomorrow’s race with a lap time of 1:14.6261 in an incident filled Indy Lights qualifying session. The result marks his second pole position of the season, he earned his first career pole earlier this year on the Streets of St. Petersburg.
Frenchman J.K. Vernay actually set the fastest lap in qualifying but a spin by Niall Quinn in the final corner leading onto the front straight nullified Vernay’s fast time (due to a local yellow).
