I just received word that the Jim Russell Championship Series has cancelled the opening weekend of the 2010 season due to lack of entries. The event was scheduled for April 17-18, 2010 at Infineon Raceway. It should be noted that the overall championship has not been cancelled at this time.
This is truly disheartening news. I remain hopeful that the Series will pick up a few more entrants prior to their second weekend – which is scheduled for May 8-9, 2010. There are several very talented drivers enrolled in the championship at this time, so it would be a shame to see their 2010 plans tarnished this late.

Wha?! Holy smokes. That is sad… I remember doing the Series in the early 2000s and there were plenty o’ entries… What gives?
Well this is unfortunate. What is the relationship between the Jim Russell School in California and the Jim Russell School in Mount Tremblant Quebec?
Mark– As far as I know, both schools are privately owned. There is no relation between them other than the name.
the writing was on the wall. Just anther group not delivering what they promised.
The Mazda based series was affordable and very competitive. The current owners priced their series out of existence. And the crash damage costs…whew!
Entire 2010 season has been cancelled. No longer any mention of it on the website. Very sad.
