Nick Andries will make his Star Mazda debut this weekend on the Streets of St. Petersburg with Andersen Racing. The 19-year-old race driver is currently competing in the Skip Barber National Championship but decided to make a one-off appearance in Star Mazda. This will be his first career Star Mazda start.
Away from his racing endeavors Nick is currently pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at St. Petersburg College.
After four races in the 2010 Skip Barber National championship, he is ranked fourth in the points. He has finished all but one race inside the top-5, including a near win at Homestead-Miami Speedway where he finished 2nd trailing Spencer Pigot by 0.013 seconds.
This will be a pretty big transition for Nick but he has a lot of potential and I’m sure he was able to garner quite a bit of support from the local community for this weekend’s “home” race.
