Jonathan Scarallo has decided to return to the F2000 Championship in 2010 with R-Sport. The 18-year-old race driver will be looking to put together some consistent performances in 2010.
In 2008, Scarallo competed in the Bertil Roos F2000 series where he was crowned the overall champion after compiling 7 wins and 14 podiums in 16 starts. Last season, his results during his rookie campaign in the F2000 Championship weren’t quite up-to-par with his abilities. It was a learning year. He’s shown a lot of promise in the Bertil Roos program as well as certain performances in the F2000 Championship, so I think he just needs to put everything together this year and focus on driving. He seems to be taking a much more mature approach to the 2010 season.
“It’s not a secret that 2009 was a very tough year when it came to race results. Just about every event we went to we had top 10 or even top five lap times, but things out of our control would keep happening during the races to take away potential results. DNFs kill you, so this year I need to be more careful about picking and choosing my battles. I might need to take it back a notch to make sure I finish and get points, and not go for a couple points, risking 30 or 40,” stated Jonathan in a press release.
I know he was evaluating some sports car options for the 2010 season after testing a World Challenge GT- Pontiac GTO last September. So, it’s good to see him return full-time to the F2000 Championship and open-wheel racing with focus on development.
