Well, there really isn’t anything new or insightful here but whenever USA Today posts an article that features keywords (Go-Kart, USF2000, Star Mazda, Indy Lights)…  you pretty much have to give them credit and link to them.

Hopefully media coverage of junior formula racing will continue to grow.

Gary Graves of USA Today wrote a piece featuring a few tidbits on the IRL’s ‘Road to Indy’ program.  You can read it here.  It basically revolves around the whole “We Need More Americans in IndyCar!” issue.  The fact that the league has given a name to some of the junior formula series is great but until they can attain appropriate sponsors— to provide decent scholarships for today’s drivers looking to move up to IndyCar— the ‘Road to Indy’ isn’t going to help get more Americans or any other drivers, for that matter, into the IRL.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% behind this program and would really like to see it succeed.  I just want to make sure that there will be more to a development program than a “brand name”.  Everybody (who aspired to make the climb from karts to IndyCar) already knew the path to Indy… unfortunately, that doesn’t make getting there any easier.
