J.K. Vernay

Sam Schmidt Motorsports announced that they have signed Jean-Karl Vernay for the 2010 Indy Lights season.  Vernay will fill the third seat at SSM, partnering Philip Major and Pippa Mann.

The 22-year-old Frenchman will  be an excellent addition to Sam’s squad.  He tested with the team earlier this month at both Homestead-Miami Speedway and Palm Beach International Raceway.  I fully expect him to be a front-runner throughout the season.

Last season, J.K. competed in the Formula 3 Euro Series where he finished fifth in the overall standings.  He completed the year with 2 wins, 5 podiums and 13 top-tens.  Away from the F3 Euro Series he competed in the treacherous Macau Grand Prix—which is the most prestigious F3 race in the world— and finished 2nd.

He also has experience in A1GP.  He drove four races for Team France during the 2006-2007 season.
