Atlantic Championship: Sebring Test Cancelled

Unfortunately, the Atlantic Championship has cancelled the first official test of the 2010 season.  The test was scheduled to take place January 22-24, 2010 at Sebring International Raceway.

Earlier today, I wrote:

Considering the time of year, the economic climate and the long drive to Sebring  (for most teams)… the series may have been better off to schedule this test a little closer to the season opener on March 19th.  Stay tuned for future attendance updates.

Perhaps the test will be rescheduled.  Stay tuned.

Looks like it may be true that the series is done. Rumor is it that IMSA will not continue to sanction them. Hope its not true but with major teams apparently moving to INDY lites look like it might be true.

If Atlantic is done they should let Veach run F2000 or Star Mazda as a 15 year old?

The test will be rescheduled in March. Stay tuned for an official date and venue announcement.

    Notwithstanding the “rescheduled” pre-season test,
the lights might be on at the Atlantic office but it seems that nobody’s home …

My repeated email enquiries about the absence of an official 2010 rulebook (it’s listed under “Atlantic 101” on the website, but you only get a single-page PDF with “Coming Soon” on it!) and Gordon Kirby’s disturbing story (http://www.gordonkirby.com/categories/columns/theway/2009/the_way_it_is_no208.html) have gone unanswered for several weeks.

It’s hardly the way to conduct a professional motorsport championship.
