Canadian driver Mikael Grenier has signed with Andersen Racing for the 2010 Star Mazda championship.
The 17-year-old from Stoneham, Quebec, Canada completed six races in the 2009 Star Mazda championship with Andersen Racing. His best finish was third which occurred at both rounds of the New Jersey Motorsports Park double-header. He finished inside the top-ten in 5-out-of-6 races or 83.3% of his 2009 race starts.
In 2008, he drove in the Formula BMW-Americas series where he logged 6 podiums and finished 4th in the final standings.
He will be an excellent addition to the Andersen Racing roster and will partner Anders Krohn for 2010. The team will likely fill two more seats for 2010, so stay-tuned for updates. The first official test day of 2010 will take place on January 23-24 at Sebring International Raceway. The team has been testing Connor De Phillippi and Isaac Lyons as well as a few other drivers but I haven’t heard any official roster announcements.
According to Mikael’s website, www.mikaelgrenier.com, he was planning to compete in the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series but that must have fell through. Regardless, it will be good to see him back in a Star Mazda car for 2010… especially full-time.
