Matt Lee signed with Alan Racing this week to compete in the 2010 Italian Formula 3 Championship.
Just prior to the announcement he completed a two-day test with the team at Circuit
de Nevers Magny-Cours in France.
“Overall the test went very well. Despite not racing since an Atlantic race at Lime Rock in July, I was up to speed quickly and I felt comfortable. The engineer and I made a few changes to improve the car, but overall it was great from the beginning.” said Lee.
Lee, 20, has been busy karting this year but has been relatively absent from the car racing scene. He completed two races this season in the Atlantic Championship with Jensen Motorsport. His best finish was ninth which occurred at Sebring International Raceway. In 2008, he ran two races in the Indy Lights series for Guthrie Racing. His breakthrough year occurred in 2006, when he finished 2nd in the ultra-competitive Formula BMW-Americas.
It will be fun to keep track of Lee this season and monitor his progress. I’m hopeful that he will be able to run a full season in 2010.
