Charlie Kimball signed with AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport to compete in the 2010 Indy Lights championship. The 24-year-old American had already completed several tests with the team, so the announcement was expected.
The will be Kimball’s second full season in Indy Lights. In 2009, he finished 10th in the final standings with 2 top-five finishes and 8 top-ten finishes. His best result was 4th which occurred at Watkins Glen. He also set the fastest lap of the race twice—both on ovals— at Kansas and Chicagoland Speedway.
I think we’ve only begun to see what Charlie Kimball is capable of in a racecar. Without a doubt, he will be one to watch in 2010.
