It’s time for another testing update as Sam Schmidt Motorsports has their annual “Champions” test scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week at Putnam Park in Indiana.

______________

For the “Champions Test” at Putnam Park, SSM will be testing this year’s Star Mazda champion; Adam Christodoulou and the International Formula Master Rookie of the Year; Alexander Rossi.
______________

Adam Christodoulou– 2009 Star Mazda Champion

Adam Christodoulou finished his 2009 Star Mazda season with 3 wins and 9 podiums.

As noted above, Christodoulou will also do an oval test with Sam Schmidt Motorsports at Kentucky Speedway on October 22nd & 23rd.  The 20-year-old completed his first Indy Lights test with Bryan Herta Autosport last month at Mid-Ohio.  His experience at Kentucky will be his first on an oval.

Despite all the Indy Lights testing, it’s likely that Christodoulou has other plans for the upcoming season.

As the 2009 Star Mazda champion, he will receive a fully-funded Atlantic Championship ride in 2010… courtesy of the MazdaSPEED Driver Development Ladder.  That’s not to say he won’t be found in an Indy Lights car down the road.

Alexander Rossi– International Formula Master “Rookie of the Year”

After winning the 2008 Formula BMW-Americas championship and the Formula BMW World Final, American Alexander Rossi has spent the 2009 season racing in Europe in the International Formula Master series.  He finished the year with 3 wins and 5 podiums, earning the Rookie Title.

His test in an Indy Lights car will likely be just that… a test.  Rossi has made it clear that he wants to be in Formula One.

He is currently working on a GP2 ride for 2010.  The 18-year-old California native recently completed two GP2 tests— one with Piquet GP and another with DAMS.

He is scheduled to test the Formula One BMW-Sauber car at Jerez in December.

**Update** The Champion’s Test will be re-scheduled.  It appears that Pippa Mann and Stefan Wilson will now be testing with SSM at Kentucky Speedway.

    ….Good read. Thanks Sauber11.

It will be interesting to see what direction he chooses. At only 18 years old… there isn’t really any rush.
