Earlier today, the F2000 Championship released some photos of a wind tunnel test conducted by GTP Motorsports, Fiber Dynamics and Radon Sport. The test took place shortly after the 2009 season came to a conclusion. You can read the official release here.
I’ve posted a brief video clip of the test below (footage courtesy of the F2000 Championship).
Make the jump for photos from the wind tunnel and comments from Radon Sport Technical Director Nathan Ulrich…
Notable comments from Radon Sport Technical Director Nathan Ulrich include:
“We tested for most of the day in the tunnel and ran about 30 different aerodynamic configurations. We learned a lot about setup of our aero parts and plan to freely share that information.”
“We found excellent correlation between our CFD results, on track testing, and wind tunnel runs. Our full new package provides a 12.5% improvement in aerodynamic performance over the stock Van Diemen aluminum wing package, which was the next best of the components we tried. This advantage is most pronounced at fast tracks like Watkins Glen.”
Although nothing official has been released yet, it is widely believed that the series plans to introduce new cars for the 2010 season. Stay tuned for updates.
