Summerton and Romancini Test with Andersen

Jonathan Summerton completed another test with Andersen Racing in their Indy Lights car this week. He joined the squad at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The 20-year-old driver tested with the team in early November, as well, and I wrote about his qualifications then. Without a doubt, Summerton is one of the best drivers available for a 2009 ride. Hopefully, he will be able to put something together shortly.

Joining Summerton at the test was Brazilian driver Mario Romancini. Romancini spent last season in the ultra-competitive World Series by Renault, driving for Epsilon. He really struggled last season, only posting two top-ten finishes all season. He ran in the Brazilian F3 series in 2007, where he did quite well, finishing second in the overall title hunt. He completed the year with 2 wins and 12 podiums. The 21-year-old driver also spent some time in the Brazilian Stock Car series; Stock Car Brasil Copa Nextel. According to Dan Andersen, co-owner of Andersen Racing, Mario was quite impressive in his test with the team and ran times just off those of Summerton. If Mario is able to put together an Indy Lights program for 2009, it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the car and the series. He will be running with the team again tomorrow on the Homestead Oval, prior to the open test held there next week.
