The Formula BMW-Americas drivers returned to action this weekend in Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix. The junior formula series joins the Formula One drivers at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. With all the Formula One teams and scouts on hand, the pressure couldn’t be higher for these young drivers. Ricardo Favoretto has proven he is up for the challenge. He handled the pressure well by setting the fastest lap of the race and winning Round 3. The first win of his career in the competitive Formula BMW series. Favoretto held the lead for 8 laps of the event while series veteran Maxime Pelletier led 5 laps enroute to a strong runner up finish.

Rob Howden of Formula Car Magazine is reporting trackside in Montreal and had some interesting news pertaining to Daniel Juncadella’s Euro Junior Team’s entry.
As I wrapped up our Friday coverage here from Montreal, I was presented with a great story from the paddock. After locking in Daniel Juncadella to run this Grand Prix event at quite a late date, Antonio Ferrari’s new Euro Junior Team needed a car for the young driver. Ferrari then set the wheels in motion and the timeline is truly amazing. A brand new Mygale FW02 was ordered and then imported into Chicago on Friday, just a week ago. The car was picked up at O’Hare and arrived at the EuroInternational shop in Indianapolis on Saturday. With nine crew members working on the car in shifts for 62 hours straight, the machine was on the truck bound for Montreal on Monday. Beautifully painted by the crew at Forsythe Racing and armed with Red Bull livery for the sponsored Juncadella, the car has battled through some teething pains that have been chalked up to manufacturer issues, but it was still very quick in the Friday qualifying sessions.”

An impressive run by Daniel Juncadella and Euro Junior Team to overcome the obstacles and cross the stripe in sixth place, just over 5 seconds back from Favoretto.
